Green starts here – sustainable campus dining in 2025

2024 was a remarkable year for the Catering team, and we’re incredibly proud of our achievements! Not only have we renewed our 3-star rating with the , but we’ve also earned as a university, receiving 2 out of 3 stars. 
We’re committed to continuing our sustainable practices across campus, offering students eco-friendly food and beverage options all year round.

November events and specials

Join us across campus this November for a month full of seasonal treats, fun foodie events, and great student offers. Whether you’re after fresh local sandwiches, festive flavours, or a creative afternoon with friends, there’s something for everyone at our Âé¶¹´«Ã½ cafés.
Bonfire Night specials – Week of 3–7 November
Celebrate Bonfire Night all week with sweet treats and hearty meals:
  • The Container Cafe : Bonfire cupcakes and s’more cookies (available while stocks last).
  • RLB Cafe and John Bull Cafe | 5 November: Glamorgan or Cumberland sausages served with garlic mashed potatoes and smoky chilli beans – £6.25 (student price).
  • Drake's Kitchen | 5 November: Chilli cheese hot dog with crispy cheese topping. 
  • Reservoir Cafe | 5 November: Jacket potato with bonfire beans and applewood smoked cheese - £4.75 (student price).
  • Add some sparkle: Toasted marshmallow syrup available in any hot drink for just £0.45 extra (student price). 
World Sandwich Day – Monday 3 November
Celebrate World Sandwich Day by enjoying the best of local flavours!
  • Loafers Deli : Fresh sandwiches made daily using bread from Malcolm Barnecutt Bakeries.
  • Drake's Kitchen : Try our hot sandwiches, from flatbreads to sub rolls – new fillings available daily.
Creativi-Tea for Fairtrade – Wednesday 5 November| 13:30–15:00 | Babbage Bytes Cafe
Take a break from your studies with tea and crafts at Babbage Bytes Cafe . Enjoy a free Fairtrade Clipper tea while you get creative! Bring your own project or help decorate our Fairtrade mural. Join our poster-making session using recycled materials to promote ethical and sustainable choices on campus.
National Nachos Day – Thursday 6 November
Spice things up with our nacho-inspired special!
  • RLB Cafe : Nacho Quorn or chicken burger with fries – £5.50 (student price).
Starbucks Festive Drinks Launch – Friday 7 November
They’re back! Celebrate the return of your festive favourites, including the Toffee Nut Latte, available exclusively at Loafers Deli .
Owens Coffee Giveaway – Tuesday 11 November
Visit RLB Crosspoint between 11am and 2pm to learn more about the locally roasted coffee we proudly serve on campus. Enjoy a free Americano, or upgrade to a latte, cappuccino, or flat white for just £1.
Eat with a Friend Day – Tuesday 25 November
Good food is even better with friends!
  • Buy one, get one half price on selected hot drinks across campus cafés. Find out more here.
  • Portland's Pizzeria : Share a pizza and enjoy a catch-up in a cosy space!
Cake Day – Wednesday 26 November
Indulge in one of our fresh, local cakes, baked by:
  • Country Kitchen (Torquay, 32 miles from campus)
  • The Exploding Bakery (Exeter, 43 miles from campus)
  • Peck & Strong (Crediton, 53 miles from campus) 
  • Visit The Container Cafe for fresh handmade bakes by our catering team, including the famous chocolate brownies — a campus favourite!
Thanksgiving Feast – Thursday 27 November
Celebrate Thanksgiving with a comforting meal on campus:
  • RLB Cafe : Vegan chicken or turkey served with sage and apple stuffing, garlic mash, mac and cheese, green bean casserole and sweet potato casserole – £8.95 students / £10.74 staff.
  • John Bull Cafe : Turkey, pigs in blankets, roast potatoes, parsnips, carrots, sprouts, stuffing, red cabbage, gravy and cranberry sauce – £8.95 students / £10.74 staff (veggie main TBC).

Christmas Specials – launching this November

  • Christmas loaded fries (from 3 November) – £5.50/£6.60
    Pigs in blankets, brie, cheddar, stuffing and gravy.
  • Christmas Yorkshire pudding wrap (running 11, 18, 25 November and 2, 9, 16 December) – £6.75
    Filled with turkey, pigs in blankets, stuffing, red cabbage, sprouts, crispy onions, cranberry sauce and gravy.
  • Christmas sandwiches launch – Monday 3rd November
  • Brie, cranberry sauce, stuffing and crispy onions sandwich – £5.00
  • Turkey baguette with pigs in blankets, cranberry sauce, stuffing and gravynnaise – £5.65
  • Brie and cranberry sandwich or wrap (from 17 November)
  • Christmas lunches – 4 and 11 December
