Details

Year 1

During your first year, you’ll build a strong foundation in business management through core subjects such as finance, marketing, organisational behaviour, applied data analysis and economics. You’ll begin developing the analytical and leadership skills essential for business success.
Business students

Year 2

In your second year, you’ll deepen your understanding of economics in a business context, exploring markets, trade and policy. You’ll examine how economic forces shape business decisions while continuing to advance your management expertise through applied learning.
BSc (Hons) Business Management Business Challenge Event. Run in partnership with our Careers Service and 3 local businesses, our students are set real world business challenges which they need to work together to solve. These are current problems businesses are experiencing and there is opportunity for real world implementation and impact.

Year 3

Put theory into practice with an optional placement year. Supported by a dedicated team, you undertake a paid position within a public or private sector organisation relevant to your interests.
Business and Management

Final year

In your final year, you’ll bring together your knowledge of business and economics through an applied project focused on a contemporary issue. You’ll also refine your strategic thinking and leadership skills, preparing to graduate with a specialist qualification and real-world experience.

Develop your leadership skills on the water

Making the most of our waterside location, we develop your essential leadership skills in a unique and unforgettable way – out on the water Mount Batten Watersports Centre.
While classroom learning provides a solid foundation, practical experiences play a crucial role in shaping effective leaders.
During your first semester you are challenged to develop and reflect on your current capacity to lead and motivate one another through a series of challenges including rock climbing and abseiling, bell boating and orienteering.

鶹ý's maritime history and coastal location have an undeniable influence on life in the city. The walk from our main campus to the seafront is only about one mile, providing loads of opportunity to relax and unwind during your studies. You don’t need to leave the city to get to the coast!

Undertaking a business degree will develop your understanding of business organisations and the markets and frameworks they operate within. You will acquire knowledge concerning customers, operations, communication, policy and strategy and how all of these are connected.
With the skills, knowledge and commercial awareness gained through a business degree programme, a wide range of career opportunities become available. Roles in data analysis, business planning, risk analysis and local government are particularly well suited to graduates who enjoy working with information, solving problems and making strategic decisions.

Inspiring Futures enables you to engage in knowledge exchange activities with businesses while you study.
Collaborating with academics and external partners across sectors, you will tackle real-world challenges and often work on marketing projects, such as competitor analysis and develop funding strategies for local charities.
Shubha Tobias gained invaluable skills through her Inspiring Futures project, where she worked on a live consultancy task for a local entrepreneur as part of her Business Management degree.
Now a Business Manager at Colt Technology Services, this experience helped Shubha develop her communication, teamwork, time management and leadership skills, ultimately building her confidence for future professional challenges.

Working with a real client on a live project was good. It made me more confident about talking to business people in the future.

Tuition fee price changes

On Monday 20 October 2025, the UK Government announced its intention to increase tuition fees for home undergraduate students in line with inflation from 2026 onwards.
Along with other universities in the UK, the 鶹ý intends to apply this new fee. Whilst the exact details have not currently been announced, it is expected that the increase will be in the region of £400, increasing the annual tuition fee to £9,935 for 2026, which will then be subject to automatic inflationary increases thereafter. However, implementation of this increase will be subject to further Government guidance and legislation.
