The annual Partnership for Research in Marine Renewable Energy (PRIMaRE) conference provides a forum for exchanging the latest research and development, and fostering collaborations in marine renewable energy.
In the offshore renewable energy research community, the PRIMaRE conference has developed a reputation for being friendly and informal yet with high-quality technical sessions and workshops, warmly welcoming both industry and academia – including early stage PhD researchers. The conference is an opportunity for the PRIMaRE network to showcase the research conducted among the different partner institutions, their industrial collaborators and the wider academic sector.
The conference includes universities, industry and research centres active in all aspects of marine renewable energy and is expected to attract participants ranging from industrial developers, university researchers, marine environmentalists and policy makers.
The Â鶹´«Ã½ will be represented by the attendees listed below along with Professor Deborah Greaves OBE FREng who will be attending as a panellist on the panel discussion on the Day 1. Day 2 includes a Supergen ORE Hub workshop on 'Creating a Strategic Research Agenda for ORE'.
This year's PRIMaRE conference is being hosted by the University of Bristol's CADE School of Engineering. Visit the for the latest information. Please note that registration closes on 20 June.

Supergen ORE Hub – PRIMaRE Workshop

Creating a Strategic Research Agenda for Offshore Renewable Energy (ORE)

Taking place on day 2 of the conference, this strategic workshop is designed to identify the research priorities that will accelerate ORE in the transition to net zero. The results of the workshop will inform the Supergen ORE Hub Strategic Research Planning, as part of a wider range of research activities held in the past few months.
The workshop aims to: discuss key offshore renewable energy research priorities (specifically within wave and tidal energy), analyse existing research gaps, explore actionable pathways, and identify opportunities to leverage funding.
Recognising that business as usual is insufficient in the race to net zero, we will examine the policy and industry frameworks needed to unlock faster progress. To form a robust strategy, we’d therefore like to gain perspectives from a range of voices from across the sector, including delegates attending PRIMaRE.

About PRIMaRE

PRIMaRE is a consortium of marine renewable energy experts across higher education, research and industry which have joined together to establish a ‘network of excellence’ for the south of the UK.
The Universities of Â鶹´«Ã½, Bangor, Bath, Bristol, Cardiff, Exeter, and Southampton, along with the Â鶹´«Ã½ Marine Laboratory have agreed to work together on research projects across the spectrum of marine renewables. PRIMaRE also has a growing number of associate partners, both in the UK and international, who have agreed to join the PRIMaRE Network of Excellence by collaborating to address research and development challenges facing the marine renewables sector.
PRIMaRE runs an annual conference, which provides a forum for exchanging the latest research and development, and fostering collaborations within the marine renewables community.
PRIMaRE
The conference is open to all and covers a wide range of topics, including: technology, policy, environment, hydrodynamics, resource characterisation, materials, operations and management.
