It will encourage students to critically assess their own clinical leadership and management needs, as well as those of their team, helping to build capacity and capability and foster a culture of continuous improvement.

Learning outcomes
  • Critically evaluate the four pillars of advanced clinical practice and the opportunities and demands of working as an autonomous practitioner in the context of advanced practice.
  • Demonstrate a critical understanding of leadership and management strategies and their application to the multi-professional clinical environment.
  • Critically evaluate current leadership concepts and their application to service change, the delivery of person-centred care and facilitation of high-quality care.
  • Critically reflect on team leadership, resilience and determination, managing situations that are complex or unpredictable.
  • Critically examine and reflect on own identity as a leader and recognise leadership capabilities and personal development needs.
  • Critically evaluate the legal, ethical, professional and organisational policies, procedures and codes of conduct that underpin care delivery and their relevance to leadership and management.
