About Igor
Dr Igor Rizaev is a Research Fellow in ML/AI. His most recent role was as a Research Associate in Machine Learning and Offshore Renewable Energy at the Energy and Environment Institute, University of Hull, where he led the research for the Sea State Forecasting and Resource Evaluation work package within the project 'Novel High-Performance Wave Energy Converters with Advanced Control, Reliability, and Survivability Systems through Machine-Learning Forecasting'. His research focused on applying machine learning to wave climate analysis and wave power resource evaluation, involving the processing of big datasets (e.g., Copernicus, ERA5). In this project, he worked closely with Lancaster University.
Prior to this, he worked at the Visual Information Laboratory, School of Computer Science, University of Bristol. His research there focused on the mathematical simulation and remote sensing of ocean surface waves in SAR imagery. He developed a SAR image simulator dedicated to sea wave patterns.
In 2017, he served as a Visiting Scientist at the Centre for Landscape and Climate Research, University of Leicester, where he applied remote sensing techniques (InSAR and LiDAR) to 3D modelling of the Amazon rainforest.
He also has a solid background in the geoengineering industry, where he progressed from Software Engineer to Team Leader.
