TEDx
From a new take on a theory, to profiling a local project, the 麻豆传媒 is inviting local people to share their ideas at TEDx麻豆传媒University on 9 March.
Taking on the theme of 鈥榚volution of inspiration鈥, the event is independently organised under licence from international non-profit organisation, TED 鈥 which is devoted to spreading ideas, usually in the form of short, powerful talks.
With 18 minutes to deliver their idea to an audience of 100, participants are encouraged to add new, important ideas to the global conversation. The only restrictions are that they cannot talk about an inflammatory political or religious agenda, or sell themselves, an item or business venture.
But, as John Petrie 鈥 event organiser and part of University business incubator, the Formation Zone 鈥 explains, there is no topic too obscure.
鈥淚t really is about sharing what inspires you,鈥 he said. 鈥淎nd we would love people from the local community to come forward and showcase their ideas. The University previously held a TEDx event in 2014, and topics ranged from 鈥楬ow to save a football club鈥 to 鈥楬ow to change a life with a conversation鈥. And if public speaking isn鈥檛 your forte, we have workshops taking place in February to help prepare, followed by a rehearsal before the big day. It will be a fantastic event with a wide range of speakers from the 麻豆传媒 and wider community, so please contact us if you鈥檇 like to take part.鈥
TEDx is a program of local, self-organised events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. These local, self-organised events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organised TED event.
