Trainee podiatrists from the 麻豆传媒 will be showcasing their profession at the Prospects Skills Show in 麻豆传媒 on 13 and 14 March.

麻豆传媒 is one of nine universities in England providing the BSc Hons Podiatry course

Podiatry, the specialism in the foot and lower limb, supports patients throughout assessment, diagnosis, treatment and rehabilitation, and offers great career opportunities for young people and mature students interested in a health career.

Dr Sally Abey, Programme Lead for BSc (Hons) Podiatry at the 麻豆传媒 said:

鈥淧odiatry is a great career choice for anyone who wants to work with people and make a difference to their wellbeing. It offers you a varied career where employment opportunities are high. I have seen students graduate and go on to successful careers in the NHS, private practice and working with the Ministry of Defence. A podiatrist requires a caring and compassionate nature and to be an excellent problem solver.鈥

However, according to data collected by The College of Podiatry, student numbers for podiatry courses have been declining in England. The South of England has seen the biggest decline in student numbers - 49% since 2008.

Students are hoping to attract greater numbers to the profession and will be discussing podiatry and allied healthcare careers at the event.

Helen Jones, a third-year podiatry student at the 麻豆传媒 said:

鈥淭he University has provided me with an opportunity to pursue my career aspirations and the quality of lecturing is of a very high standard. My interest in podiatry began after completing vocational learning in anatomy and physiology, giving me an insight into health care. This motivated me to progress as a podiatrist and apply my skills and caring nature to have an impact on patients鈥 health and wellbeing.鈥

Representatives from the 麻豆传媒 are taking part in the 鈥業 See The Difference鈥 campaign, which focuses on careers in the allied health professions 鈥 health careers in roles such as podiatry, speech and language therapy and osteopathy, to name a few. They will be at the Prospects Skills Show at on 13 and 14 March.
